“I think this is our example of how when one truly wishes for something, that something will eventually happen in the end,” Palomino said in a speech during the ceremony attended by Naga City Mayor Kristine Chiong, homeowners, and guests. “This housing project for our employees is part of our welfare program for our people.”

Mayor Chiong expressed her recognition of the project which granted the wishes of Apo Cement employees to have their own houses they can now call home. She sees the company’s housing initiative as an important contribution of local businesses to sustaining the steady progress of the City of Naga.

“The City of Naga will not be able to sustain its development and progress if its people, including the businesses and establishments, do not share a unified purpose and mission,” said Chiong. “I hope that with this kind of project, we highlighted the importance of everyone in the City of Naga. Whether as residents or investors, we are all stakeholders in the development of the city.”

The ceremony, also attended by PAG-IBIG Housing officers and representatives from housing developer Kenrich Development Corporation, started with a mass and blessing of the turned over houses followed by Palomino and Mayor Chiong cutting the ceremonial ribbon at the main entrance gate of the Las Casas de Naga subdivision.

The CEMEX executive team also visited the houses and talked with the families of Apo employees.

Meanwhile, Arturo Rodriguez, CEMEX Technical Director, said the houses and the subdivision is a happy ending the company wanted to happen for everyone especially the employees.

“As an innovative and socially responsible company, we like to see our employees happily working. And being in the construction business, one of the benefits that we can get is having the best house that we will turn into a home,” said Rodriguez.
